The suspects, described as two to five black men wearing ski masks and black overalls, boxed in the victims' car as soon as they pulled into a parking space at the Holiday Inn Express at 1250 Bayshore Highway around 5 p.m., according to police Capt. Mike Matteucci.

The suspects broke all the side windows in the victims' car and punctured the rear passenger-side tire. They then grabbed the bags of jewelry from the backseat and the driver's fanny pack, Matteucci said.

The driver sustained minor cuts but the victims were otherwise uninjured, according to Matteucci.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry and were last seen driving their newer model black four-door Saturn north from the hotel toward Millbrae, Matteucci said.

"These things are somewhat common in the jewelry business," Matteucci said. "It happens up and down the Peninsula from time to time."

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call Burlingame police at (650) 777-4100.
