Alameda County supes slash benefits for poor

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA

The board voted 3 to 2, to cut $12 million from its general assistance program. Those benefits go largely to single adults with no other source of income.

Benefits will be cut by $40 a month and recipients will be limited to three checks a year.
