A Marin County sheriff's deputy picked up the sea lion near Gate Six Road and Bridgeway Boulevard about 3:30 a.m..
Someone had reported seeing the marine mammal on the road near the marina and heading toward town. Officials with the Marine Mammal Center arrived to help transfer the sea lion from the deputy's squad car to their facility.
