The study found that injuries increased by 150 percent from 1997 to 2007. However, the study also suggests that the increase may have more to do with a lack of adult supervision than lively gym programs.

It also found that there are now fewer school nurses and more students per class.

The study appears in the September edition of Pediatrics -- it suggests schools should renew their efforts to make gym class safer.
