Golf, rugby may return to the Olympics

The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee has shortlisted rugby and golf for the Olympics in 2016.

The recommendation must still be approved by the full IOC in October, which is expected. Golf was last in the Olympics in 1904.

One of the big obstacles has been whether top players would compete when they already have other big tournaments, but Tiger Woods indicated just this week he would play.

Softball, squash, baseball and karate all missed today's cut.

One firm decision today: the IOC says women will be allowed to box in the Olympic in 2012 in London.
