The Alameda County sheriff's department says coach saw Greg Johnson saw Greg Johnson leave Ochoa Middle School in Hayward at about 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
He reportedly called his dad and said he was taking an AC Transit bus home, but never got home.
Deputies told ABC7 that the boy has been located and is okay.
Officials did not provide details, except that his mother says the disappearance involved a family issue.
