The talks will determine how much money members of the United Auto Workers will receive when the Fremont plant closes next year. They are expected to last through Friday.

NUMMI is a joint venture between General Motors and Toyota, but the relationship broke apart in June when GM announced it was pulling out after it emerged from bankruptcy.

In August, Toyota announced it would close the plant next year ending 25 years of operation.
