17-year-old-wounded in late-night shooting

At about 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a reports of shots fired in the 100 block of Southgate Court near Church Street.

They arrived to find evidence that a shooting had occurred but those involved had left the area, police said.

An investigation revealed that a 17-year-old boy had been injured in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting, police said. The victim was taken by private automobile to a hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. He was expected to survive.

Police are investigating the shooting as gang-related, though a suspect has not been identified.
