CHP car crashes on Bay Bridge overnight

A California Highway Patrol car was involved in a three-car accident on the Bay Bridge this morning, but officials said nobody was injured in the collision.

At about 1:50 a.m. today, a vehicle stalled while heading westbound on the incline portion the Bay Bridge, just past the metering lights, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.

A CHP unit was traveling behind another vehicle when that car hit the stalled vehicle, Caggiano said. The CHP patrol car tried to stop but hit the crashed vehicle.

A sig alert was issued and all lanes except the far left lane were closed while the crash was cleared out. Caggiano said there weren't delays, though, because traffic on the bridge was so light.

All lanes were opened and the sig alert was lifted at 3:12 a.m.
