PG&E: Gas bills should be lower this month

PG&E bills in 2010 should reflect a decrease of about 9.2 percent for natural gas compared to bills at this time in 2009, according to figures released by the utility company on Monday.

The average customer whose January bill for natural gas would have been about $88.20 in 2009 can expect to pay around $62.28 for the same amount of usage in 2010, according to PG&E.

Small increases in charges for transmission, distribution and mandated social programs are expected to be offset by lower forecast usage and a decline in gas prices.

The price of natural gas has been lower this year due to high storage levels and decreased demand overall, according to PG&E.
