SF police arrest homeless man after fatal attack

SAN FRANCISCO

Lt. Mike Stasko says 54-year-old Edward Holloway was taken into custody Sunday in the attack on 38-year-old Matthew Adams.

Adams' girlfriend told police he was assaulted around 1:30 a.m. Saturday while the couple were walking down Market Street. She found Adams dead in his room Saturday night.

Adams apparently refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police say Holloway would be booked on suspicion of murder if the medical examiner determines Adams died because of the attack and not from another cause.

Stasko says Holloway has a history of attacking people on the street without provocation.
