15-year-old girl struck in crosswalk and killed

SANTA ROSA, CA

Officers received a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on West College Avenue at Link Lane at around 6:20 p.m., according to Santa Rosa police.

Arriving officers found a seriously injured girl in the roadway west of the intersection. The victim was taken to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 22-year-old Santa Rosa resident Orien Swank was driving west on College Avenue when he passed through the intersection at Link Lane and struck the girl in the crosswalk.

Alcohol or speeding do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.

Police have not released the girl's identity pending notification of her family.

The crash is still under investigation.
