Man attempts to kidnap 5-year-old girl in Antioch

ANTIOCH, CA

The girl said she was playing by herself in front of her house in the 500 block of West 19th Street shortly before 6 p.m. when a man approached her and asked her if she wanted some candy, police said.

The girl told her parents that she said "no" and the man grabbed her by her head, covered her mouth with his hand and began dragging her toward his car, which was parked in front of the house.

The girl's brother ran toward them and the man let the girl go, got into his car and drove away, police said.

The man was described as a black man between 30 and 40 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He was wearing an orange hoodie, green T-shirt and red shoes with black laces.

He was driving a white two-door vehicle with blue racing stripes on the hood.
