Daly proposes new "no lying" law

April 27, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
San Francisco Supervisor Chris Daly introduced a bill making it illegal to tell a lie on city streets.

It is in response to Mayor Gavin Newsom's proposed ban on sitting or lying on sidewalks.

However, Daly's resolution refers to lying in the sense of not telling the truth.

It would carry a maximum fine of $500 and 30 days in jail.

Daly, an arch nemesis of Newsom, says he wants both resolutions debated at the same time.
