SJ police chief addresses AZ immigration law in DC

SAN JOSE, CA

They met with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in an hour-long closed-door meeting to talk about their concerns over Arizona's new immigration law.

"What do we want our local police departments to be doing? We're concerned that this is going to diverge with our ability to interact with our public and to fight crime. That is our primary responsibility and why he have concerns," Davis said.

Many police chiefs also say the law will actually increase crime. Arizona's law requires police to question anyone they suspect of being in the country illegally.
