Bunnies seized from SF pet store; up for adoption

SAN FRANCISCO

The rabbits were confiscated during a raid at a pet store whose owners say they were not aware of the city's ban on rabbit sales.

The raid comes as the city considers expanding its pet sales ban to include dogs, cats and other small animals as a way to reduce the number of pets at city shelters.

The bunnies are healthy, friendly and available for adoption starting this Saturday at Animal Care and Control offices at 1200 15th Street from 12-6 p.m. There is an adoption fee and all of the rabbits will be spayed or neutered before leaving.
