Salmonella may help body fight cancer cells

Salmonella poisoning may be dangerous, but scientists have discovered a benefit provided by the toxic bacteria.

Italian researchers found salmonella can spark an immune response, alerting the body to kill cancer cells. They worked on mice and human cancer cells.

Scientists hope they'll be able to use this research to develop a new drug that can one day help the body fight cancer.
