Second-hand items may invite unwanted guests

Consumers are being warned to be careful about picking up items with bed bugs at second-hand stores.

Lots of folks these days are saving money by shopping at second-hand stores, but be warned it can bring unwanted creatures into your home.

Pest control experts say bed bugs are showing up more often in furniture that was cast off by someone else.

You should be careful what you pick up in a thrift store, on craigslist, or what's left on a curbside.

Some items may have been tossed because they're infested.

Check seams of mattresses and furniture fabric for discoloration, and check wood frames. Infestation looks similar to mildew.
