Firearms, drugs discovered in Richmond home

RICHMOND, Calif.

Officers served a search warrant in the 2300 block of San Joaquin Street at about 8 p.m., and they discovered 18 firearms, including assault rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and an M16 rifle, among others, police Lt. Shawn Pickett said.

In addition to the myriad weapons, police recovered a trove of illegal drugs, including a kilogram of cocaine, a half-pound of methamphetamine, and an undisclosed amount of marijuana, Pickett said.

Police also recovered $2,000 in cash.

Pickett said the department's special investigations section served the warrant and arrested the suspect, who was on parole for unknown charges.

The suspect, whose name is not yet being released, was booked into Richmond City Jail on charges related to a felon in possession of several firearms, Pickett said.
