Campaign launched against distracted drivers

Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood says driving while using a cell phone is a "deadly epidemic." The department's latest statistics show 5,500 people were killed and nearly half a million injured in accidents related to distracted driving.

A Consumer Reports poll shows more drivers under the age of 30 are use a cell phone while driving; 63 percent said they have used a phone while driving in the last 30 days, 30 percent texted while driving and only 30 percent think it is dangerous.
