Murali has learnt Carnatic Music and is a co-founder of the San Francisco Bay Area Indian Light Music Group 'Pallavi'. Pallavi has performed in over 25 events all over California and completes ten years in 2006.
Murali's uncle Mr. P. Balasubramaniam motivated Murali and his brother to start Sankara Eye Foundation, USA. Murali, Sridhar and Ahmad Khushnood (of Pakistan) founded SEF, USA in the year 1998. Murali thinks this is a God given opportunity for him, his family and friends and is committed to achieve 'Vision 20/20 by 2020' in partnership with Dr. Ramani, Mr. S.V. Balasubramaniam, Mr. Srivatsan, Mr. P. Balasubramaniam and others at Sankara Eye Society and his dear SEF Volunteers. Since its inception in 1998 we progressed from one Eye Hospital performing around 8,000 FREE Eye Surgeries to eight Eye Hospitals collectively performing over 106,000 FREE Eye Surgeries in 2010. Our Goal is to build at least one Sankara Eye Hospital per state in India by the year 2020 and play a substantial role in eradicating curable blindness in India by 2020 – Vision 20/20 by 2020.
