Cal State East Bay professor arrested in Nigeria

HAYWARD, Calif.

Dublin resident Steve Ugbah took a leave of absence to run for governor of the Nigerian state of Benue. After he lost, he went to court, claiming the election was rigged.

One of Ugbah's aides was later killed in an ambush which police called an attempted robbery.

Ugbah was arrested on Monday and charged with inciting public disturbances. There are unconfirmed reports he was released from jail on Tuesday.
