Lawmakers submit to voluntary HIV testing

SAN FRANCISCO

Senator Mark Leno and San Francisco supervisor Scott Weiner took the test to emphasize its importance for all people at risk.

Health officials say there are roughly two new infections every day in San Francisco. Right now, 1.1 million Americans are living with HIV, the highest number in the history of the pandemic.

Friday's event was held ahead of National HIV Testing Day, which takes place next Monday.
