211 offers financial advice for two days only

SAN FRANCISCO

If you can dial 211, you can get in on some major financial help Tuesday and Wednesday night. No matter your financial concern, they have you covered.

If you are having money problems or need financial advice, then you will want to talk to the experts being brought into 211.

Tuesday and Wednesday night, the city and county of San Francisco has partnered with local experts to offer a financial advice phone-a-thon. Dial 211 and you'll receive free advice on credit, debt, mortgages, savings and investing.

"Times are tough for people now. People are struggling with this lingering recession and aftermath and this is just another way for us to give back to the community," said Rick Harper from Consumer Credit Counseling.

Consumer Credit Counseling Services of San Francisco along with the Financial Planners Association are among those offering help.

"We have financial planners, we have members from the government community to talk about benefits, we have the regular 211 people from the United Way of the Bay Area who are skilled in services that are available to the public. So through a consortium, we believe we have everyone covered," said Harper.

So what's the catch? Well this hotline is for San Francisco, San Mateo, Napa, and Marin County residents. All others will be referred to their local 211 operators who will offer referrals, but not immediate on the phone help.

Phone-a-thon:
Dial 211 on Sept. 27th and 28th, 2011, from 4 - 8 p.m.
