Superior court scammers asking for personal info

SANTA CLARA COUTNY, Calif.

The Santa Clara County Superior Court of California in San Jose said a person or a group of different people are calling residents and claiming to be representatives of the "Sunnyvale Court." The scammer then asks for personal financial information or payment, claiming this is required for a court case.

The court advises all residents not provide any personal or financial information to anyone who contacts them by phone and claims to work for the court.

Court employees never demand this type of information, officials said.

If someone does receive a call, authorities ask that people ask for the caller's name and the case number they are calling about. To report a suspicious situation, concerned residents can call the court at (408) 882-2700.
