Cyclist in court over manslaughter charges

SAN FRANCISCO Randolph Ang, 23, pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges stemming from the July 15 accident. Police say Ang ran a red light on the Embarcadero at Mission Street and struck 68-year-old Dionette Cherney, who died a month later from head injuries. The defense attorney says his client feels terrible about the accident. If found guilty, Ang could face up to one year in jail. The judge denied the prosecutor's request to set a $15,000 bail, which means Ang is free while he awaits trial.
