Car buyers also look for Black Friday deals

OAKLAND, Calif.

At Volkswagen of Oakland, they typically sell four to five cars on any given weekday. But not this Friday.

"So you know. We're looking for a 10-15 car day today," VW of Oakland spokesperson Greg Perry said.

Big deals and low financing are driving people into car dealerships this Black Friday.

"Every day is the best day to buy a car," Perry said.

But this one is particularly good one. According to truecar.com, car shoppers can expect the biggest discounts of the entire year on Black Friday. Thousands of dollars have been cut off manufacturer's suggested retail prices.

Truecar.com reports car sales have increased year over year for the last six months. Sales for November are expected to top more than 13 million cars, up 12 percent from last year.

Down the street at Honda of Oakland, sales are up as well.

One family was looking for a new mini-van.

"We actually stopped a couple different places but we just liked the way they were dealing, but price is definitely a factor," Fad Sablim said.

Websites like truecar.com, kelleybluebook.com and edmunds.com can help shoppers determine where the best price and discounts are. Car buyers say a little research goes pays off in big savings.

"You got to come in with your information if you know what you're doing and you're straight forward, they're straight forward," Sablim said.

Truecar.com recommends that car buyers know what competitors are offering before they walk into a dealership. That will give shoppers the edge in making a deal.
