OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT --
A low-cost airline is planning a big expansion at Oakland International Airport. Allegiant Air will add seven new non-stop flights from Oakland to Idaho, Oregon and Montana. The destinations may not get too many people excited, but this will -- Allegiant is also setting up a mini-hub at Oakland at that will be a big jobs generator.
"The staff that operates those aircraft. The flight attendants, the pilots, the crew, the operation staff, will all be located and housed and live here," said Deborah Ale-Flint, the director of aviation.
Sixty new jobs will be created. Oakland airport officials say the new routes will also bring in an additional $100 million in tourism to the Bay Area.
