'Read Across America Day' honors Dr. Seuss birthday

DALY CITY, Calif.

Theodore Geisel's books have inspired generations of children to read. On Friday, students and teachers across the country celebrated his legacy with "Read Across America Day."

ABC7's Carolyn Johnson joined other community members to read aloud at Bayshore Elementary in Daly City Friday. She and the students read "Green Eggs and Ham" and other books.

Research shows motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement.
