Oakland police identify two weekend homicide victims

OAKLAND, Calif.

The Saturday shooting occurred at about 1:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of 60th Street and involved two victims, police said.

One victim, 31-year-old Rondale Gurley, was pronounced dead at the scene, police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said. An 18-year-old woman who was with Gurley was critically injured, police said.

On Friday night at about 10:10 p.m., police found a gunshot victim in the 2500 block of Church Street.

The victim, Charles Hill, 16, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. He was later pronounced dead, police said.

No arrests have been made and police have not identified any suspects in either shooting.

The two deaths mark Oakland's 25th and 26th homicides of this year.

Another man who suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting on Monday night remains in the hospital today, Watson said.

Police have not identified that man, who was found lying on the ground outside his car after being shot while driving in the 1000 block of 54th Street at about 8:25 p.m. Police said he was shot in the back, and hit two parked cars.
