A search is underway right now for a woman who tried to hold up a convenience store at gunpoint late last night. The robbery attempt was foiled by a hero.

Police say just before 10 p.m., the driver of a gasoline delivery truck saw what was happening inside this AM/PM store on Hagenberger Road. They say a woman was pointing a gun at the clerk and making threats to shoot him if he didn't hand over the money.

The truck driver grabbed the woman and the struggle for the gun was on.

"An employee, actually in fear of safety of his fellow co-workers, was able to wrestle the gun away from the suspect. The suspect then fled on foot without any loss or anybody getting hurt," said Oakland Police Department Sgt. Brandon Wehrly.

Another customer in the store said he was very thankful for the bravery of that gas delivery driver.
