Gasoline prices are down in most of the nation, but of course, not in California. This means driving could be expensive for the upcoming holiday.

Gasoline will cost a lot more in California than in most other states. The Energy Department says average gasoline prices in California jumped more than 15 cents per gallon in just one week.

The average price reached $4.36 on Monday. At the same time, the national average dropped by more than three cents per gallon to just $3.75.

Analysts said refinery problems are the main cause for the price increase.

California has only 12 refineries and right now four are shut down.
