Jim Harbaugh knows a thing or two about disaster relief, having turned borderline disasters at Stanford and the 49ers into much needed relief.

He took that term literally Friday, delivering the keys of a disaster response unit to officials of the Salvation Army's Golden State Division. He also joined Fedex in handing over a $10,000 check to the Salvation Army.

San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr took a quick tour of the mobile canteen before Harbaugh helped dish up the first served meals.

The new canteen will help Salvation Army workers and volunteers better serve the community by providing meals to needy and displaced residents, during and after natural disasters.
