No go for plan to give youth free Muni rides

A plan to give low income youth free rides on Muni didn't get the go-ahead many were expecting today. A committee of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission decided not to recommend a plan at its meeting Wednesday morning.

Instead, it sent various proposals for the full board to vote on later this month. They include authorizing $5 million to get the free rides for youth program running in San Francisco.

But supporters fear another option to extend the program to other agencies would further delay the San Francisco plan.
