Thousands turn out for Livermore outlets job fair

LIVERMORE, Calif.

Thousands of job seekers lined the sidewalk for hundreds of yards outside the new Paragon Outlets. Two thousand jobs are available at the retail outlet, and people wanting to work were out in force.

The latest data puts Alameda County's unemployment rate at 9.4 percent, the second-highest in the Bay Area behind Solano County. That means 73,000 people are looking for work in Alameda County, so the 2,000 jobs at Paragon should be filled quickly.

The Paragon Outlets will be home to 120 premium retail stores and is scheduled to open in time for this holiday season.

Their next job fair will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Robert Livermore Community Center (4444 East Avenue in Livermore).
