San Jose man pleads not guilty to bomb plot at Oakland bank

OAKLAND, Calif.

Matthew Aaron Llaneza was arrested by the FBI last month after an undercover investigation. Federal agents said the 28-year-old was trying to bomb a Bank of America branch off Hegenberger Road.

Investigators say an undercover FBI agent, who told the suspect he had ties to the Taliban, helped design something that looked like an explosive but was harmless.

Llaneza is due back in court next month.
