Study: Distracted driving laws aren't working

SAN FRANCISCO

The U.S. Department of Transportation finds at any given time, about 660,000 drivers are texting, tweeting, talking, or otherwise preoccupied with their cellphones behind the wheel.

And according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration survey from 2010, there is little evidence that distracted driving has decreased in the past three years.

The poll surveyed 6,000 people age 16 and older.
