Monday evening a 22-foot-long sinkhole opened up in the middle of the intersection of Lake Street and 2nd Avenue in San Francisco. The intersection is located on the border of the Inner Richmond and the Presidio Heights neighborhoods in the Lake District.

The sinkhole is eight feet wide and 22 feet long. It is not yet known how deep the sinkhole is. It is not growing and there has been no disruption to water or sewer service in the area. There were no evacuations called, but the intersection was closed.

City officials say a broken sewer pipe might be to blame, but that they're still looking into it.
