A family will receive nearly $1 million from the Oakland Unified School District, after questions arose when a district police officer shot and killed a man.

Raheim Brown, 20, died in Jan. of 2011 near where Skyline High School was holding its winter ball.

Sgt. Barhin Bhatt shot him twice after claiming that Brown was attacking another officer with a screwdriver.

The other officer doubted why Bhatt fired five more shots after it appeared that Brown had been stopped.
