A new study is prompting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to recommend that all children receive a flu shot.

The CDC research shows 40 percent of children who died from flu between 2004 and 2012 were healthy, meaning they did not have chronic medical conditions such as asthma or heart disease.

A total of 830 U.S. children died from flu during that time span. Many of them passed away before they were admitted to the hospital or within three days of symptom onset.
