Surveillance video shows an 8-year-old boy leaving day care with his aunt, when a man comes up and punches him and then runs off with his iPad.
The manager of a nearby restaurant witnessed the crime.
"You just don't hit a child, you don't hit a child," Mohammad Armeli said. "He punched a child so hard his nose, might have broken his nose and there's blood all over his face."
Mohammad Armeli ran after the man, chasing him for more than a half-mile, until he caught him.
The 32-year-old suspect is now in custody.
The boy is recovering, but the iPad was destroyed. However, his family took the shattered device and the surveillance video to a local Apple store, and were given a brand new one.
