Body found at Anaheim trash recycling center

ANAHEIM, Calif.

Authorities say Republic Services workers made the gruesome discovery on a conveyor belt that sorts trash in the 1000 block of N. Blue Gum Street at about 10:30 a.m.

Police confirmed that the body is that of a female adult. She was later identified as 21-year-old Jarrae Nykkole Estepp. Anaheim police said she had connections in Modesto and Oklahoma.

Investigators say the naked body was facing down and partially covered in trash. They believe the body was dumped in the garbage elsewhere and then transported to the center by a truck. It's unknown how long the body has been there, but authorities say they don't think it was a long time.

According to officials, 6,000 tons of trash come through the center each day from homes and businesses in north Orange County and parts of Los Angeles County. The recyclables and trash are stacked 50 feet high in some spots.
