Mountain lion sighting reported in Hillsborough

HILLSBOROUGH, Calif.

The animal was seen in the area of 6220 Skyline Blvd. around 11:45 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.

The sheriff's office is reminding anyone who sees a mountain lion not to approach it, especially if the animal is feeding or with offspring.

Mountain lions tend to avoid confrontation with humans, sheriff's officials said.

To avoid running into the animals, people are advised not to go hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk or at night and to closely watch small children.

Anyone who comes face-to-face with a mountain lion is advised to stay put, face the animal, make noise and try to appear bigger.
