National Zoo's panda cub Bei Bei tries to climb tree
Mothers know that kids get into everything when they're little. It's hard to contain their curiosity. It's true not just for humans, but also for baby animals.

WASHINGTON (KGO) -- Mothers know that kids get into everything when they're little. It's hard to contain their curiosity. And it's true, even in the case of this little fur ball.

Bei Bei, the panda cub at the National Zoo, is not quite 6-months-old yet.

So we need to cut him some slack when he tries, and tries, and tries to climb a tree on his own.

Thankfully Bei Bei's mom was there to help him out when he got stuck.

After about an hour of playtime, mom and Bei Bei went back inside.

The cub now eats solid foods. Zookeepers say he nibbles in bamboo leaves but really likes sweet potato.

The little panda will turn 6-months old on Feb. 22.
