LIVERMORE, Calif. -- A big-rig caught fire and blocked multiple lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in unincorporated Alameda County east of Livermore Monday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The fire was reported shortly before noon near the North Flynn Road off-ramp and was blocking the three right eastbound lanes of the highway as of about 12:30 p.m., CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said.
The big-rig driver suffered burn injuries but Bartlett did not immediately know the extent of the driver's injuries.
The flames spread to nearby grass and fire crews are at the scene to extinguish the blaze, he said.
There is no estimate for when the lanes will reopen, Bartlett said.
