Afghanistan hit by multiple avalanches, 124 people killed

PANJSHIR PROVINCE, Afghanistan (KGO) -- Afghanistan was hit by a number of avalanches on Wednesday. The worst of them happened about 60 miles from Kabul.

They damaged or destroyed about 100 homes there and a total of 124 people were killed.

Large parts of Afghanistan are covered in snow from a major storm that interrupted an otherwise mild winter.
