Support the ongoing work of Chinese Hospital, which has been caring for our local community for over 100 years! Located in San Francisco is this unique healthcare provider with a long and rich history of providing access to culturally competent health care services for the Chinese Community. Chinese Hospital is a 54 bed, acute care, community-owned, non-profit hospital offering a wide range of medical, surgical and specialty programs. Chinese Hospital exists primarily to deliver quality health care in a cost-effective way, is responsive to the community's ethnic and cultural uniqueness and, is accessible to all socioeconomic levels. The event will feature a raffle with a variety of exciting prizes!

The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Center's (TNDC) Annual Birthday Dinner
Join ABC7's Cheryl Jennings and hundreds of supporters celebrating The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Center's long history of providing safe, affordable housing and support services for low-income people in San Francisco.
The festive evening will feature cocktails, dinner, a heartwarming program, dancing and live entertainment by gypsy-jazz and uptown swing band George Cole, and after-dinner dance music by DJ King Most. The uplifting evening will include the annual presentation of The Brother Kelly Cullen Community Service Award named for the late former TNDC Executive Director, and given to an individual or organization that shows extraordinary community spirit and compassion in providing services to San Francisco's poorest and neediest residents. This year's award will go to Darryl Smith and Laurie Lazer, co-founders/directors of The Luggage Store/509 Cultural Center, for their leadership in the San Francisco neighborhood art scene for nearly three decades.

Mourning Mothers Walk to Prevent Violence 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence
Take a moment to remember the victims of homicide at the Mourning Mothers Walk to Prevent Violence. Look for ABC7's Cheryl Jennings at this memorable event to help families and friends heal.
The 2k walk at your own pace even is expected to draw hundreds of grieving families and concerned citizens from all over the state. We'll have live entertainment, refreshments, free blood pressure screenings, information, and referrals. This event is intended to raise awareness for the ongoing need for therapy, advocacy and resources for those coping with the loss of a murdered loved one.
"We want to encourage grieving mothers and family members to not isolate and suffer in silence," says founder of 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence Lorrain Taylor. She knows firsthand the emotional and psychological trauma victim survivors experience and why it is important to honor those mothers especially around Mother's Day 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating the detrimental impact of violence through direct, practical and compassionate outreach services to victim-survivor families in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Proceeds from walk will help provide therapy for children of murdered parents. Registration is $20 (includes lunch)

The Mexican Museum & University of San Francisco
Explore an iconic exhibition at University of San Francisco's Rooftop Sculpture Terrace! It's a collaboration of The Mexican Museum and USF's hacher Gallery and Masters in Museum Studies program.
Among the featured artists are Francisco Zúñiga, Felipe Castañeda, José Luis Cuevas, Jorge Duron, and Armando Amaya, most of whom studied at the acclaimed La Esmeralda in Mexico City. Their art presents female archetypes that strongly reference Mesoamerican forms. Also included are sculptures by Manuel Neri, Byron Galvez, and Gunther Gerzso, artists who formed abstract rather than realistic figures. Together, these sculptures offer a survey of 20th century Latin American sculpture that emanates from rich tradition and explores human emotion.
USF's recently-launched Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Museum Studies is designed for entry-level and emerging museum professionals as well as professionals from other fields wishing to pursue a career in the museum field. The program prepares its graduates for positions in leadership in artistic, cultural, educational, and heritage organizations, and for long-term professional growth.
