The only catch is drivers would have to pay a $10 car fee. Under Laird's proposal, that fee would be collected when you register your vehicle.
The money would be used to maintain the parks and buy more state park land, but many state Republicans say they will not support the plan.
If approved, the new fee would raise $282 million a year, which is about 64 percent more than the state parks system gets now.
