Police said the girl was alone around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the store in the Corte Madera Town Center when a Hispanic man approached her and asked he if she had any parents.
The girl tried to walk away but the man blocked her path by stepping in front of her then knelt on one knee and placed his hand under her skirt, police said.
The suspect walked away when the girl told him she was going to see her mother. She was taken to Oakland Children's Hospital and released with no physical injuries, police said.
The suspect is a clean-shaven adult, approximately 5 feet 5 inches with short black or brown hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black jeans or sweat pants and black dress shoes, police said. The suspect also was carrying a walkie-talkie in one hand. Anyone with information is asked to call (415) 927-5150.
