Alliance Metals owner Jay Anast believes that his surveillance cameras may have captured video last weekend of one of the men responsible for a rash of guard rail thefts from East Bay overpasses.
His secretary remembered the video footage after watching ABC7 News coverage of the thefts Wednesday night, Anast said.
The footage shows a man attempting to sell pieces of metal similar to metal used on guard rails.
"We didn't have any idea what this was; we knew nothing of the problem," Anast said. "Our weigh master who's instructed if it looks stolen, if it looks unusual, if it looks like something a person shouldn't have, we just refuse it."
Anast plans to hand the surveillance video over to police.
